Mathew Blades is a 13 year radio vet and has...wait wait wait.
I hate it when you go to someone's site and everything you read is made to look like someone else typed it up...this is me, Mathew and here is my story:
I grew up in Coon Rapids, Minnesota for the most part the oldest of three kids. I live in Phoenix now with my beautiful wife Niccoli and our two boys Gordon and Truman. We have a couple of cats, but they have become less significant since the humans arrived. Oh relax, we still feed them.
My radio career started out in St. Cloud, Minnesota as the over night deejay at KCLD. From there I went to work in Minneapolis at KDWB part time. After that I had two quick stops in Texas, and Pennsylvania before landing a dream gig in Washington DC at Z104. The Mathew Blades Radio Program took that city by storm, not only did we have great ratings success, but we won and were nominated for a few awards along the way, and DC is still my second home! In 1999 Andy Denmark called and asked me to host my first nationally syndicated show called Music's New Generation, and that awesome job lasted three great years. In 2000 I left to work in Kansas City for KMXV. Jon Zellner told me I would meet my wife there and I did. I married Niccoli in Chicago on October 24th, 2004 and three weeks later moved her with me to Washington DC to host the morning show at Z104. The Mathew Blades Radio Program cast was Whitney, Erica, JC and I ended up being nominated for morning show host of the year in the HOT AC category by Billboard that year. The following year just as we were getting settled in the station signed off the air. So Niccoli and I packed up and went to do country radio in Denver, Colorado. It was an interesting experience to say the least and about a year and half into it we were offered a chance to get back to mornings and move a lot closer to home so we did. I took over the morning show slot at WKTI in Milwaukee and brought AJ and Erin to work with me, we called it, "Mathew Blades in the Morning." In November of 2008 WKTI signed off and WLWK signed on. So after a brief afternoon stint there, the crew at KMXP in Phoenix gave me a chance to wake up Phoenix...Everyday I get to crack the mic at Mix 96.9 in Phoenix now!
Thanks,
Mathew Blades
